Improving user experience for a museum of design
The Geffrye Museum
The Geffrye Museum collection shows how homes have been used and furnished over the past 400 years, reflecting changes in society and behaviour as well as style, fashion and taste. Through their website, they promote events and exhibitions, provide access to digital archives of their collection and offer educational content for schools.
As is often the case with museums, they don’t have vast amounts of money and can’t afford to rebuild their entire website from the ground up every couple of years, but they were interested in improving the user experience, even in the smallest of ways.
We ascertained that lab-based testing would be the best way of generating valuable user insight so we produced a concise report and interactive prototype that demonstrated how improvements could be made to the user experience of specific pages and features on the website.
